no big names/sydney round canned?

well i spent my $200 odd dollars on tickets to the aussie superx and at this stage with only a couple of weeks till the first round im a bit dissapointed the promise of some big names appear to be lacking somewhat and although im  a big chad reed fan i would like to see a bit of competition (no offense to you excellant aussie riders) and although mcgrath here for 2 rounds he is a little past his primeand ive just read on superx that that sydney round may even be canned due to some approval problems so i dunno, ihope its gonna be good cause i really would like to see it kick on for years to come, what do you guys think?

We all need to just get behind this and support it as much as we can. This is what we have been asking for for years and years... The more we get behind this and buy tickets and show up to the races, the better this series will become & not to mention the coverage. This is when the $ponsors will get on board - bring in the cabbage and then attract the top 10 in the world. The first year will be a growing year & it will only get better from here if WE want it to.

the words disappointed are big words dont ya think....
considering the series that was in place....in its first year it will go through some growing pains im sure! iv been attending ama sx races for the past 7 years and they are FAR from perfect! from a riders point of view i hate the new formats! iv always believed that hard work great testing and being there every week is what is key facts of winning sx races and titles the new formats take away from that! but from someone that has been racing pro sx for the last ten years and the past 7 years in the US which is supposed to be the elite sx series in the world! i can count on one hand the people that have won races in that time! so something seriously needs to be done to make it appeal to the average fan.....NO GOING BACK TO 2STROKES WILL NOT HELP:) NOR SOME STUPID 350 LOL....trying to market a sport that has been so predictable is extremely hard at best
i along with you hope that we can get the best riders from all over the world but i to understand there racing schedules there commitments to all involved there testing schedules alone would burnout the average hardcore moto guy! its tough! but with the current state of the economy and all the teams cutting back its almost tougher for us as the riders are now looking to make up from lost $$$ a good US rider can make good $$$ for a weekends work....for instants james will make 100-150k for three nights of racing at bercy this year where the likes of a andrew short will be between 40-60k.....so although iv had to turn down my 150k for bercy this year to attend my best friends wedding that i committed to two years ago in aus! (things you do for ya life long mates ha:) its and uphill battle!
hope this takes away some of your disappointment and gives you a better understanding of whats put on the top US riders! iv copped alot of slack for not doing the nationals but there is nooo way that i could do both and give myself and honest shot at winning a sx title the following year id be so burnt out!

any new plan to try and elevate the sport here is good in my books , this series is something that didnt have to go ahead and supercross here in oz would have continued to die in the a , and why not try to showcase and develop our own riders ! ?
jeremy may be retired but the only person i see finishing ahead of MC would be reedy even in retirement talent like that just doesnt go away , i know im looking forward to it , good on chad for getting involved and helping out the supercross / motocross industry , i know Motorcycling Australia does sweet F A in the way of developing mx/sx here in oz

dunno bout the sydney round, but when u think of the big names in the US coming here, number the SuperX series is an unknown at this stage its all been plans and talk so far, no doubt it will be awsome for us aussies but the lure the SX/MX stars over in there down time ( what little they get of it )is a big ask, yes money would play a role also depending on contracts in place might be hard to setup with an aussie bassed outfit to run the bikes for them as an example the Woodstock honda team will be expanding 2 extra bikes for Dan Reardon and McGrath ( from what ive read) so that in itself is a huge effort...
I think next year will be better maybe the promotors can sell it as a working holiday for SX only guys like K Dub and Stewart.
The first of anything is always a bit of a nervous time for promoters and for us fans too, as it is Perth gets a normal heats LCQ and 20 lapper, where as some of the new ideas start here in adelaide with lots of shorter sprints so for me jury is out on the show but the see the talent ride here in twotwo and 122 and all the other guys im pumped.
Im sure with TV times slots, great sponsers, and kick ass promoters the show should be first class and will grow over the next 3 years to one day hopfully stand up on its own merit as a world class series , so instead of inviting guys like Jeremy ( who by the way can still turn it on) those guys will be asking to come down and play here!
Peace
