If I were CEO of Yamaha

I would throw 15 million chads way for him to run MX. I seriously believe if he wanted to, he could win the title. there is a tendancy for people to say he can only ride sx, however i differ in reasoning.

Heres my .02.....

Chad doesnt give it his all every time out. He is an intelligent rider, and rides strong enough to get the position hes  comfortable in obtaining. If he knows he can only get second, he doesnt mind whether thats 1.5 second from the leader or 30 seconds. still the same amount of points. to me, he lost focus and motivation this year after stewart went down. he had what it took to run with 7, and after he went down, so did his mental focus. that is why everyone else seemed to catch up to him in lap times and results, he backed it down and made some careless mistakes.

if he were able to recapture that same drive and funnel it down on mx, i really think he could win a  c-ship.  content with 3rd while rc and js were 1 and two, he rode enough to keep ahead of fourth. we know he has the speed and ability, as witnessed at the mxon, running rc and rv pace, now all he needs is that drive and motivation all the time to hang it out, and i have no doubt he would win 6-7 races throughout the year and give him the number one plate.

for yamaha, that would  mean out of the 5 last champions, 4 of them were on blue bikes. (langston 07 mx, lawrence 08 sx, reed 08sx, and mx08 reed)  that would be extremely impressive.

not only that, i think chad could really cement his place in dirtbike history , not just sx.

again, just my honest opinion

I doubt its about the dollar... sure its nice to have more then you can count.

Some riders do great in MX, some in SX, some in both. Chad does great in SX. Thats what he is great at and loves to ride. Getting motivated to do something you dont really care to do much is pretty hard.

As for SX season, ask any racer, your motivated to win and beat your top rivel. when a top guy goes down and you win races with half your effort, you'll get bored. Chad likes to earn his wins and he has earned every one of them. Pretty sad when a great rider goes out every weekend, rides hurt, and still pull out wins, and poduims against a bunch of healthy riders. Had Chad not had some bad luck this season, the rest of the field would have been smoked all year long..

Put your self in Chads boots, would you go race a series that you just dont really care to race because its not to your liking or style.. and all because some fans want to see you race? posibably get hurt that could have long term effects later down the road... Chad served his time in MX.. sure many fans would like to see him more, but if Chads happy, you know what, im happy.

It is very stupid that Chad takes all the blame for only running SX. KDuhd is now only riding SX and people dont say nothing.. oh yea, they probably dont care, not like he wins or podiums alot in MX...

Cant imagine how many SX bikes a year Yamaha would have to sell just to pay Chad 15 mil. Then again, Yamaha would probably take Chads salary out of the CEO's salary/Bonus.. since after all, the CEO is giving Chad 15 mil a year (or should i say for a few months of a year)

Some great points, JY26. It is up to Reedy what he wants to do. It might disappoint the "haters" and even his fans some, but it is up to him and us fans should support him with whatever he decides. Plus the anticipation of waiting for next year is very exciting!

you know, its chads life to live and he has the right to make his own choices. I dont agree with people saying its not fair to the fans that ppl dont wanna race the nationals. sure the fans bring in the money and all that, but nobody knows what its like to be in reeds shoes. no fan can understand the hard work and dedication it takes to be a champ, let alone a professional athlete. i'd love to see speedy run the nats but you gotta try to be in his shoes. im not really talkin to you guys, i was talking about all the haters that bash on him for not doing the nationals.

While it would be fun to watch Reed race all summer, and work towards his rightful spot in history. When talking of being of this summer, Reed likes it because when the SX season starts again he has had some time to miss sx racing. I think everyone can get "burnt out" doing something and the way these guys have to train and practice all week long during the season, that some time off really helps their mental state. Which I feel can go a long way when trying to win a championship.

so true. completely agree, but i think chad has his hands full. he is about to do a supercross series in aus, plus he has stated he might do a couple of nationals +mx of nations. he has also stated that he would like to get involved with cars. he has been on a bike since he was four and i think he is beginning to enjoy other pursuits now and i say good on him. he deserves to as he is a true champ and a great ambassador for the sport.

but yes, he would kick ass. as they say in france......cest la vive!!!

(translated:such is life) lol

that would be good to see that would also mean the last 3 AMA 450 title have gone to non-american riders [if he were to ride & win outdoors] i think after this performance his name is worthy of its place in MX history as far as i know he is the only australian rider to ever win AMA SX titles (3), 3rd on the wins list and he has won a world mx round, has a #2 world mx plate several good US outdoor reults in my honest opinion his place in dirt bike history is well and truly set in concrete
