For Immediate Release: 26 April 2008.
Seattle, USA - Following his impressive second placing at St Louis last weekend, Aussie Supercross star Chad Reed says he is ready to tackle the penultimate round of the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series, an FIM World Championship at Seattle’s Qwest Field tomorrow.
Reed has undergone another week of intensive treatment on his broken shoulder, which is showing signs of improvement. The series leader was able to withstand a day of practice on his Yamaha YZ450F this week.
Acknowledging he was feeling a lot stronger both physically and mentally, Reed said he knows what he has to do to win this title.
“Last weekend was a real confidence booster,” said Reed. “I went into the round not really knowing how my shoulder was going to hold up. I got through it and maintained a 13 point lead.”
“I am feeling a lot stronger. I have had another week of treatment and even tested it (shoulder) out with a practice session on the bike.”
“I’m not about to let this title go. I’ve let these guys into this points’ battle and I am going to make amends on those mistakes over the next two races,” Reed commented.
Reed has been the series form rider all season long, winning eight rounds and leading 147 race laps during the 2008 championship. His advantage over Kevin Windham is now 13 points and although he is not racing at full fitness this weekend, the determined Australian has only one thing on his mind - a second World Championship title.
The 16th round of the 2008 Championship will take place at Seattle’s Qwest Field on Saturday 26th April. The Main Event will commence at 7.00pm local time. Following this event, the series finale will be held in Las Vegas on Saturday 3rd May.
